Particulate Organic Carbon
(POC) content of challenge water during uptake. Ambient describes
natural conditions of water in the Port of Baltimore. Control and treated show levels in test
waters from time-integrated samples collected through the entire uptake.

UV Transmittance
(UVT) percentages for challenge water during uptake and discharge.
Ambient describes natural conditions of water in the Port of Baltimore and T0, T1, and T2 for
challenge water are %UVT values from three sample time points (beginning, middle, and end of
uptake).

Active Chlorophyll –
Control and treated show chlorophyll levels in test waters from time-
integrated samples collected through the entire uptake and discharge.
Live Organisms >50 µm –
Significant numbers of organisms in the control and treated water on
discharge were dead, most likely due to significant drops in dissolved oxygen level (see values
above). The organism in the size category included: Calanoida, cyclopoida, harpactiocoida,
copepod nauplii, polychaeta, barnacle nauplii, medusa, rotifer, eggs, turbellaria, and large
diatoms.
